James Hinchliffe, my great x 3 grandfather, died in Hull in 1868 at the age of 75 and must, therefore, have been born c 1792/3.  His occupation was shown on his death certificate as - Seaman Merchant Service.  The 1861 census records him living in Hull and gives his birthplace as MASBRO'.  His wife Maria (or Mary) was born in Downham Market and his daughter Caroline Coulson, age 39, was born in Hull, as was his granddaughter Harriet H Coulson.  James and Maria's other children (not living with them at the 1861 census) were Mary Ann b 1823,  Eliza b 1827 and Sarah (my great x 2 grandmother) b 1827.
Any information about James prior to 1861, particularly his MASBRO' origins, would be very welcome.
Trevor.
