I'm not related, and apologise for accidentally copying someone else's message. I was just going to add that John Hinchcliffe of 8, Hermitage Street, Sheffield was a manufacturer of knives between about 1837 and 1857 when the business was carried on by a Samuel Hinchcliffe for a year or two. He had a beehive trade mark which was bought by my ancestors Slater Brothers in the early 1860's and is largely associated with them in the knife collecting world, although others have had the mark since 1902.
Hinchcliffe folding dirks are not very common, but are very collectable - with most knife-collecting interest seemingly in the States.
